Dublin, NH – Thomas Jerome Murphy, 82, of Dublin, NH, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife of 39 years and love of his life, Lorelei, and his daughters Katie and Allison, who are his greatest blessings.
Tom was always proud of his long and successful career in insurance and reinsurance, a field he genuinely loved. He took tremendous pride in his work, his colleagues, and the relationships he built throughout his career and found joy in recounting his favorite memories from that time. After retiring in 2003, he began a new chapter that he was equally proud of, successfully opening the first Goddard School in New Hampshire and building a loving and supportive community for children and their families.
After retiring once again in 2018, he spent much of his time planning and enjoying all the travel adventures he and Lorelei embarked on including cruises, road trips, exploring national parks, discovering off the beaten paths, and making lifelong friends along the way.
He took great pride in his work, but nothing surpassed the love he had for his family. He loved spending time with them and looked forward to family adventures, shared vacations, especially at Fort Myers Beach, and lively conversations over a Manhattan (or two!).
He will be remembered for his humor, his generosity, his work ethic, his integrity, his curiosity, his stubbornness (especially about directions, knowing his way was better than the GPS), his stories, and his unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He treasured family dinners, holidays, celebrations, and dinner parties with friends simply because we were all together.
His unbridled joy of becoming a grandfather to Liam was filled with pure love, especially when Liam would smile and squeal in delight when he saw Tom.
He is survived by his loving family of his wife Lorelei, daughters Katie Curtis and Allison Murphy, Katie’s husband Nathan Curtis and their son Liam, Allison’s fiancé Alex Hort, his daughters Dina Rimi and Francine Pullman, his brother George, sisters Doris and Carolyn and their families, and his countless friends and extended family members who were lucky enough to know and love him.
Tom was the nicest and kindest person one would ever meet and he will be missed, so very, very missed.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 1pm to 4pm at the Monadnock Country Club, 49 High Street, Peterborough, NH.
