Virginia Lee (Ginger) Pettee

Fall River, MA – Ginger passed away on August 16, 2026. She was born on February 8, 1954 in Peterborough, NH to Virginia T. and Leroy A. Pettee

Ginger was a member of the first class to graduate from Contoocook Valley Regional High School in Peterborough. After traveling through western US with friends she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, studied Special Education at Keene State College, and taught developmentally disabled individuals at the Monadnock Workshop Vocational Program. Later she obtained training and certification in other social service areas, including Home Health Aid, Recovery Coach, and Addiction Counselor. She possessed natural gifts for sports, dance, music, and poetry, and applied her creativity in all her service to others.

Ginger was preceded in death by her father, Leroy A. Pettee, in 2012. She is survived by her beloved 98-year-old mother, Virginia T. Pettee, who resides in Maine; her brother, Kevin Pettee, and his wife, Donna Hunt, of Kittery ME; her nephews, Samuel T. Pettee of Seattle, WA, and Adam R. Pettee of Denver, CO; her cousins, Jonathan Tucker and Ellen Hartwell of Northampton, MA, David H. Barnette of Portsmouth NH, and Mark Barnette of Portland ME, as well as Sam’s wife Christine, Jonathan’s spouse Jean M. Koester, Ellen’s husband Gary, and David’s wife Judy.

Ginger will be remembered fondly by a wide community of grateful friends, and the many hearts she touched and inspired.

A memorial ceremony honoring Ginger’s life was held on September 4th at the First Baptist Church of Fall River. Donations may be made in Ginger’s name to the First Baptist Church in Fall River, MA.
