The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire, in partnership with the MDEIB Coalition and the Historical Society of Cheshire County, will unveil a historic marker honoring Dr. Albert C. Johnston on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m.
The unveiling ceremony will take place at 127 Washington Street in Keene, the site of Dr. Johnston’s former home and medical office. The event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments served following the ceremony.
Dr. Johnston was an African American physician and Keene’s first radiologist whose family’s experience with racial passing inspired the 1949 film Lost Boundaries.
The program will feature remarks from partner organizations and the City of Keene, with members of Dr. Johnston’s family present to unveil the marker. For more information, visit www.BHTNH.org or www.hsccnh.org.
