Rindge resident Chris Peahl will join more than 6,000 cyclists in the annual Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon on Aug. 1 and 2 to raise money for cancer research and patient care.

The event has set a record fundraising goal of $79 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. For the 20th consecutive year, 100% of all rider-raised dollars will go directly to the institute, which relies heavily on the fundraiser amid shrinking federal research support.

Registration remains open at PMC.org, and donations to Peahl’s ride can be made at profile.pmc.org/CP0194.
