The town of Peterborough and the Monadnock Center for History & Culture will host an old-fashioned celebration Saturday, July 4, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature historic family games, a classic car display, an ice cream social, a street contra dance, and an 1876-style baseball game.
Running alongside the semi-quincentennial events is the 10th annual Art in the Parks, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can browse works from more than 50 artists, listen to live music, and visit a farmers market set up throughout downtown parks and Depot Square.
In the event of rain, the Art in the Parks portion will be postponed to Sunday, July 5.
All activities are free, accessible, and open to the public, with ample free parking available. Art in the Parks is sponsored by Catlin Architecture, Orbis Wealth Management, and W.G. Ellercamp.
