Hello from the Stephenson Memorial Library. We hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. Stephenson Memorial is gearing up for a summer of celebrating Americaโ€™s 250th Birthday. In the spirit of this, Ella attended the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) 250 Library Convention in Washington, D.C. in June. She learned a great deal and had a great time.

We are looking to try a few new programs over the summer; if youโ€™re interested in any of the programs, please let Ella know:

  • A Show and Tell Story Time: Are you a farmer? Engineer? Baker? Come in and read a story about your profession and show off tools of your trade.
  • Greenfield Presents: Is there a subject you love talking about? In this series, each month will feature a different Greenfield resident talking about something they are passionate about. Want to present? Reach out to Ella to set up a date.
  • Freedom 250 Time Capsule: Ella is setting up a small time capsule to celebrate Americaโ€™s birthday. In honor of the milestone anniversary for America, she would like to have letters, drawings, and photos answering the question, โ€œWhat does Freedom Mean to You?โ€ You can drop these off at the library or find the library table at the 4th of July. We will keep it open until filled or until December 31st, whichever comes first. We will plan for it to be opened in 2076, on Americaโ€™s 300th Birthday.

The library is hard at work to make our August 29th program, โ€œLegends and Lore: An Enchanted Faire,โ€ a success. If you are interested in hosting a small volunteer table that fits a fantasy fair theme, please reach out to Ella.

The library would like to thank the Peterborough Kiwanis Club for the $500 donation towards our Winter Reading Program. We will use it to fully stock our Ticket Store this winter.

Find Ella around the community this year and let her know what programming and materials you would like to see Stephenson Memorial Library provide to Greenfield.

We have a lot of great programming coming this year and we hope youโ€™ll join us.
