The Jaffrey Civic Center will present โ€œFive Decades: A Journey Through Art in Nature,โ€ a retrospective exhibition by Monadnock Region artist James A. Cusmano, at 40 Main Street in Jaffrey.

The exhibition features more than 50 years of multimedia work inspired by the natural world, including silk paintings, pastels, relief watercolor monoprints, oil paintings and ceramic tile installations. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, June 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. A gallery talk and silk painting demonstration will be held Friday, July 24, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Cusmano works in pastels, oils, watercolor, printmaking, textiles, pottery and ceramic tile. His current focus is silk painting using transparent liquid French dyes on white China silk. He studied fine art and design at Pratt Institute in New York and has taught silk painting since 1994.

The Jaffrey Civic Center gallery is open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. More information is available at jaffreyciviccenter.com.
