The Park Theatre in Jaffrey will host an America 250 Cultural Fair July 2-4 to commemorate the nationโ€™s 250th birthday with movies, live entertainment, historical exhibits and a community cookout.

Festivities begin July 2 with an advance screening of โ€œYoung Washington,โ€ starring Ben Kingsley, Mary-Louise Parker and William Franklyn-Miller as George Washington. The film also will screen July 3 and 4.

The Monadnock 250 Main Street Cookout is scheduled for July 3 from 3 to 7 p.m., featuring traditional Independence Day foods, Kona Ice and beverages from the theater bar.

Later that evening, the theater will present the โ€œFred Marple Salute to America Variety Show,โ€ hosted by Ken Sheldon as his fictional New England character Fred Marple. Performers include magician Ben Pratt, the Cheshiremen Barbershop Chorus, Ivy and Chum & The Puppets, comedian Jody Sloan and pianist Kyle Trombley.

On July 4, the theater will screen the restored musical film โ€œ1776,โ€ based on the Broadway production about the drafting of the Declaration of Independence.

The fair also will feature a free exhibit of reproductions of founding-era documents, including the Declaration of Independence, Treaty of Paris and draft versions of the U.S. Constitution.
