The American Legion Myers-Prescott-Olson Post 50 Color Guard made its annual Memorial Day procession from Francestown Elementary School to Turnpike Cemetery on Thursday, May 21.

The Color Guard was joined by the entire FES student body, along with teachers, families and PTO members. During the ceremony, moderator Gary Schnakenberg shared the history of Memorial Day and noted that 85 men from Francestown answered the call to defend the colonies at Lexington and Concord in 1775.

Scott Carbee read the American Legion Prayer, and Don Cheney placed a wreath at the grave of unknown soldiers. FES students also performed patriotic songs for attendees.
