Volunteers Marty Kulla and Bob Allen were honored in a ceremony at Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge on Sunday, April 26, at the annual Volunteer Spring Clean-Up Day.

The Cathedral installed a plaque in honor of the contributions and long-time service of both men to the veterans’ memorial.

“These men represent terrific examples of volunteerism and high character in our community,” said Jed Brummer, a trustee emeritus of Cathedral of the Pines.

Kulla, founder of Kulla Construction in Rindge and a member of the Rindge Zoning Board, is a long-time supporter of the Cathedral. Allen, a professional arborist for Eversource, led the energy company’s involvement in Saluting Branches, a national day of service in which professional arborists donate their time to maintain veterans’ cemeteries and memorial sites.

Cathedral of the Pines was founded at the end of World War II by Sibyl and Douglas Sloane III to honor the memory of their son, Sanderson Sloane, a B-17 pilot who was shot down over Germany in 1944. The Cathedral honors the memory of all men and women who have served the United States. For more information: www.cathedralofthepines.org.
