The Hancock Town Library will host a talk on the work of the Peterborough Food Pantry on Thursday, May 7, at 7 p.m.

Glo Morison, a Peterborough resident and board president of the pantry since 2019, will present “Your Local Food Pantry at Work,” outlining the organization’s services and the growing need in the region.

The all-volunteer pantry supports food-insecure residents in 13 local towns and is based in Reynolds Hall, 52 Concord St., Peterborough, across from All Saints’ Church. In addition to providing food, the pantry offers an Emergency Aid program that helps clients with necessary car repairs, up to $1,500 per year.

Morison will discuss how the pantry operates, including how clients are verified, trends in local food insecurity and ways the community can support its efforts. Pantry officials report a more than 45% increase in weekly household visits over the past year, citing changes to SNAP benefits, last fall’s government shutdown and rising food costs as contributing factors.

The program is free and open to the public.
