A young driver was unhurt following a rollover crash Thursday evening at 55 Hadley Highway in Temple.

Temple Fire Department Chief George Clark said the vehicle came around the corner and flipped, colliding with a stone wall.

The crash happened just after 5:30 p.m.

Initially, Peterborough Fire & Rescue was called to the scene for ambulance service, but the call was canceled when Temple first responders assessed the operator and found him to be unhurt.

“When we got on the scene, we determined that driver was uninjured,” Clark said.

Clark said while the exact cause of the accident is unknown, distraction and speed may have been a factor, adding that the driver was “very lucky.”

“He did roll the vehicle, but he was actually lucky the stone wall was there, because it is a steep grade on the other side, and he could have kept rolling down that hill, and he could have hit the back of the fire station,” Clark said.

Clark said the impact of the car hitting the stone wall “actually shook the fire station.”

“One of my guys was in the fire station at the time of the crash, and the whole building shook,” Clark said. “They looked out of the window and could see the car in the woods and we thought, well, that’s not good.”

The driver is local to the area, and the vehicle was towed to his home.
