Starks, ME – On April 9, 2026, Robert Crane Hughgill, Sr. of Starks, Maine passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a period of failing health.
Bob was born May 30, 1935 to George and Dolly (Crane) Hughgill of Rindge, NH.
He is survived by his children: Robert Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Solon, Maine, Glenn and his partner, Paul of Albion, Maine, Deborah of Starks, Maine, and Timothy and his wife Tara of Rindge, NH. His 11 grandchildren: Danielle, Bryan, KerryAnn, Ricky, Nicholas, Kyle, Tyler, Cody, Cassandra, Katlyn, and Jordyn. His 10 great grandchildren: William, Kyle, Kayla, Audrey, Asher, Avery, Scott, Noah, Trent and Kade. As well as many loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves his siblings: Eleanor (Big sister) of Walpole, Raymond and his wife Gloria of Rindge, Marilyn of Winthrop, MA, and “The little girls”, Linda of Cocoa, FL and Janet of Pocasset, MA.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Dolly Hughgill, his loving wife, Janey (Crowner), sons Gary and Alan, daughters Sheila and Sheri, and brothers, Philip and Alan.
Bob graduated from Murdock High School in 1953. On August 11, 1956 he married the love of his life, MaryJane Crowner of Jaffrey, NH. Both he and Janey worked for many years at NHBB in Peterborough, NH. They eventually settled in Pelham, NH where they raised their family.
Bob was employed by The Raytheon Missile Co. for many years where he was the supervising foreman for The Patriot and Stinger Missile production. A position of which he was most proud.
He had a great sense of community always making sure things were done right. He served his town of Rindge as a selectman for years. He was truly respected by all he served and knew on many different levels. A true pillar of his community!
An avid deer hunter and farmer, he retired to the simpler life in Maine where he could farm and hunt. He was a true Boston fan closely following both the Red Sox and and The New England Patriots. He could spin a tale that would keep you belly laughing for he had the best sense of humor! A devoted father and brother who will be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Old Point Avenue, Madison. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Hill Side Cemetery, Rindge , New Hampshire.
