The Peterborough Heritage Commission will host the next installment of its Restoration & Remembrance series on Thursday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the Select Board Room at the Peterborough Town House.

This program will spotlight Cranberry Meadow Farm Inn, with owner Carolyn Hough presenting on the history, preservation, and renovation of the historic property.

Built in 1797 as the Wilson Tavern, the building served as a central gathering place for the community for more than 30 years. With 21 rooms and 11 fireplaces, it hosted town events, supported militia activity, accommodated drovers transporting cattle to Boston, and is believed to have been part of the Underground Railroad. Many original features remain, including early hardware and fire safety elements that reflect early New England craftsmanship.

After later serving as a private residence, the property underwent a careful restoration. Today, Cranberry Meadow Farm Inn blends its historic character with modern amenities across 80 acres of gardens and woodlands.

The Restoration & Remembrance series highlights significant local properties and the individuals working to preserve them. The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.
