The Eastern Monadnock Housing Security Coalition received a $5,000 donation Tuesday, March 17, from the Grand Monadnock Rotary Club to support individuals and families in need of transitional and emergency shelter.

Christine Robidoux, chair of the Peterborough Methodist Church overnight shelter committee, said the funding will help the coalition expand services for people living in vehicles or camping outdoors. She said the money will be used for gas and grocery gift cards, cold-weather supplies and hotel stays for unhoused people with medical needs or other high-risk conditions.

The coalition includes Community Action Partnership of Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties, The River Center, The Grapevine Family & Community Resource Center, Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter and Shelter from the Storm.

The group also works with faith-based organizations that provide space for shelter and financial help when other housing options are unavailable.

People seeking help can contact Community Action Partnership in Peterborough, The River Center in Peterborough, The Grapevine in Antrim, Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter in Peterborough or Shelter from the Storm in Jaffrey.
