The Mason tax rate has been set at $25.05 per $1,000 of property value for the coming year, a 50 cent drop from the previous year’s rate.
The largest contributors to the drop were the municipal and local education rates, which helped offset an increase in the county rate.
The municipal rate this year was set by the Select Board at $9.07, which is a 15 cent difference from last year’s rate of $9.22.
The local education rate is set this year at $13.63, which is a 5.43% drop from last year’s rate of $13.63. The state education rate increased slightly this year, going from $1.52 in 2024 to $1.58 this year.
The county rate increased from $1.18 to $1.51.
The owner of a home valued at $350,000 is expected to pay a total of $8,767.50 for the coming year. The same home, similarly valued last year, would pay a total of $8,942.50.
