A Deering man was arrested Monday, Nov. 10, after leading Marlborough police on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash and brief foot chase in Dublin.
According to Marlborough police, the incident began around 12:41 p.m. when officers attempted to stop a gray Mazda sedan on Main Street near Knowlton Street for a traffic violation. The 20-year-old driver refused to stop and led police through Knowlton Street and Bush Street, a dead end, before turning around and fleeing toward Route 101 eastbound into Dublin.
Marlborough police coordinated with the Dublin Police Department to deploy spike strips, which were successfully used near MacVeagh Road. The suspectโs vehicle then went off the road and into a ditch. The driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by an officer.
Both the driver and a female passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured, and property damage was limited to a section of guardrail and the suspectโs vehicle.
Police said the man was on federal probation, having been released from custody on Oct. 28, and was also out on bail for a riot charge in Strafford County. He is being held on felony charges of reckless conduct and disobeying an officer, resulting in serious bodily injury.
The Marlborough Police Department was assisted by the Dublin and Harrisville police departments, New Hampshire Fish and Game, Dublin Fire Department, Peterborough Ambulance and J&J Towing.
