Cuts to Medicare Advantage
I’ve learned that much since I became the primary caregiver for my father. We have our ups and downs, but one thing that makes both our lives easier is the coverage my father gets through Medicare Advantage.
Unlike many health care plans that can be complex for seniors and their families, Medicare Advantage stands out for its simplicity. It consolidates all benefits under one plan, including additional benefits such as telehealth, transportation to appointments, and prescription drug coverage. In contrast, traditional, fee-for-service Medicare plans are not only more complicated but also limit the benefits that enrollees are eligible for.
That’s why it’s concerning that some in Washington are advocating for cuts to Medicare Advantage through the No UPCODE Act. These cuts could jeopardize the quality of care it provides to patients like my father, potentially leading to reduced benefits and increased costs.
Now more than ever, we need Congress to strengthen Medicare Advantage, not undermine it. I hope New Hampshire’s leaders like Senators Shaheen and Hassan will continue to stand up for people like my father and the tens of millions of other Americans who count on a strong Medicare Advantage.
