The Monadnock Writers Group chose three winners at its annual Three-Minute Fiction Slam on Oct. 25 at the Mariposa Museum.
The winners were Marc Woods, of Londonderry, Karen-Marie Scolforo of Hillsborough, and Eric Notaro of Wilton. Woods will be invited to compete in the New Hampshire Writers Project Fiction Slam on Nov. 8 at Southern New Hampshire University, where a top prize of $250 will be awarded.
The Monadnock Writers Group uses the rules set by the New Hampshire Writers’ Project Three-Minute Fiction Slam, which is a timed event where flash fiction is read aloud. While there is no set word count, participating writers must able to read their pieces out loud in three minutes or less.
Authors Diane V. Mulligan and Emily Robins Sharpe served as judges for the slam.
The Monadnock Writers Group meets at 9:45 a.m on the third Saturday of the month. All meetings are free and open to the public. The next meeting is Nov. 15 at the Peterborough Town Library and will feature literary fiction Richard Adams Carey, author of “The Philosopher Fish,””In the Evil Day,” “Against the Tide” and “Raven’s Children.”
