The Monadnock Center for History and Culture will host a downtown Peterborough walking tour on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 10:30 a.m., offering participants a chance to โ€œstep back 200 yearsโ€ and explore the townโ€™s early industrial history.

The tour focuses on Smithโ€™s Village, named for mill owner Samuel Smith, whose operations helped shape the community at the confluence of the Contoocook and Nubanusit rivers in the 1820s. Participants will learn about landmarks that have endured, as well as buildings and businesses that have disappeared over time.

Tickets are $12, or $10 for Monadnock Center members, and must be purchased in advance at MonadnockCenter.org or by calling 603-924-3235. The 90-minute tour takes place rain or shine.
