Branch River Theatre will present Jen Silvermanโ€™s dark comedy โ€œThe Moors,โ€ directed by Wendy Almeida, with six performances Oct. 3 through 12 at the Marlborough Community House, 160 Main Street.

Set on the bleak English moors, the play follows two sisters, their mastiff and a newly arrived governess as they grapple with longing, ambition and isolation. A visiting moor-hen adds to the chain of events that blend Gothic drama with absurdist humor.

The cast includes Bridget McBride as Agatha, Charlotte Traas as Huldey, Rebecca Cross as Emiliere, Janis Costa Deedy as Marjory, Ian Hefele as the Mastiff and Kenzie Wood as the Moor Hen.

Evening shows are Oct. 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. Matinees are Oct. 5 and 12 at 2 p.m. with doors at 1:30 p.m.
