The Jaffrey Civic Center will open the fifth season of its “Stories to Share” series on Friday, Oct. 3, at 5 p.m. with a talk by John Knight, executive director of Historic Harrisville, Inc.
Knight will present “The Role of Preservation in Rural Vitality: Insights From Historic Harrisville,” exploring how preservation strengthens community and supports rural life.
A Greenfield native, Knight is a writer and editor with a Ph.D. in comparative literature. He has led Historic Harrisville since 2024 and also serves on the Harrisville School Board.
Historic Harrisville, founded in 1971, is a nonprofit preservation group dedicated to protecting the town’s historic character, natural environment and community vitality through stewardship, programming and business incubation.
