The Friends of the Poor 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at the New Ipswich Congregational Church, 156 Main St. Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the race begins at 9 a.m.
Pre-registration is $25 for adult runners and $10 for youth 17 and under; walkers are free. Same-day registration is $30 for adults and $15 for youth. Those who register by Sept. 19 will receive a long-sleeve wicking shirt for runners or a T-shirt for walkers.
The scenic 5K course follows country roads and is designed as a family-friendly event. Proceeds benefit the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which provides food, fuel assistance, holiday gift baskets and help with utility bills for local families.
