The Hancock Town Library will host Adar Cohen for a free public program, โHear Me Out: How to Talk When Nobodyโs Listening,โ on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Daniels Room, 25 Main St.
Cohen, a conflict resolution expert, has worked internationally to bring communities together. In Chicago, he facilitated dialogue between gang leaders and police. In Belfast, after the Good Friday peace agreement, he helped Catholics and Protestants plan for a shared future.
His work, including the use of โgem statements,โ is highlighted in David Brooksโ book โHow to Know a Person.โ Cohenโs approach offers tools for advancing civil discourse during times of polarization.
His writing and talks have been featured in The New York Times, on MSNBC and on the TED stage. He holds a Ph.D. in conflict resolution from the University of Dublin.
