The Monadnock Summer Lyceum will feature Sara Bronin, an architect, attorney and professor, on Sunday, Aug. 24 at the Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church.

Broninโ€™s talk, โ€œKey to New Hampshire: How Zoning Shapes Our World,โ€ will explore the impact of zoning as one of the most powerful tools of local government. She maintains that once communities recognize zoningโ€™s influence, they can use it to create places that better reflect shared goals and values.

Bronin chaired Hartford, Conn.โ€™s planning and zoning commission for seven years and is widely recognized as an authority on property, land use, zoning and historic preservation law. She is a professor at George Washington University Law School.

Welcome music begins at 10:30 a.m. and will feature the Maple Tree trio: David Fleming on flute, Joy Fleming on bassoon and Eric Blackmer on guitar. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. with an introduction by moderator Ivy Vann, a town planning consultant and former member of Peterboroughโ€™s planning board.

The event is free. A reception will follow.
