The Monadnock Summer Lyceum will feature Sara Bronin, an architect, attorney and professor, on Sunday, Aug. 24 at the Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church.
Broninโs talk, โKey to New Hampshire: How Zoning Shapes Our World,โ will explore the impact of zoning as one of the most powerful tools of local government. She maintains that once communities recognize zoningโs influence, they can use it to create places that better reflect shared goals and values.
Bronin chaired Hartford, Conn.โs planning and zoning commission for seven years and is widely recognized as an authority on property, land use, zoning and historic preservation law. She is a professor at George Washington University Law School.
Welcome music begins at 10:30 a.m. and will feature the Maple Tree trio: David Fleming on flute, Joy Fleming on bassoon and Eric Blackmer on guitar. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. with an introduction by moderator Ivy Vann, a town planning consultant and former member of Peterboroughโs planning board.
The event is free. A reception will follow.
