The suspect in an alleged domestic violence case in Antrim turned himself in Thursday night, according to Antrim Police.

At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, officers from the Antrim Police Department responded to a report of a domestic violence incident. According to a release from the department, officers responding to the scene learned that Nathanael Schaefer, 43, of Antrim, had allegedly physically assaulted family members and then threatened them with two bladed weapons. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled the scene and entered a nearby wooded area.

Members of the Antrim Police Department and Hillsboro Police Department responded to the incident, and once officers were on scene, requested backup from the Peterborough Police Department and the Cheshire County Sheriffโ€™s Office for K-9 units. The search for Schaefer continued until approximately 5 p.m., at which point it was discontinued.

Warrants were obtained for Schaefer for two counts of felony criminal threatening with a deadly weapon/DV-related and two counts of misdemeanor simple assault/domestic violence. According to Antrim Police, Schaefer turned himself in on the warrants at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday.

Schaefer was held on preventive detention and was arraigned Friday at 2 p.m. at the 6th Circuit District Division Hillsborough Court where he was scheduled for a probable cause hearing Tuesday at 1 p.m.
