When crossing Main Street bridge while driving over the dividing line in a small car or a large truck, people are endangering the drivers coming down Main Street with a haphazard, laissez-faire attitude swinging onto the bridge. It is not one-way traffic.

Trying to leave the library, a parent chose to face downward into her cellphone walking with her small son in the traffic area, totally unaware of an approaching vehicle. We drivers need to be aware of pedestrians and drivers just backing out at us, but pedestrians need to be conscious of their and their children’s safety.

While walking to the Lyceum, I stopped at the stop sign, and then started to head onto the crosswalk. However, a bicyclist charging down Main Street whipped through the stop sign onto Grove Street; therefore, I had to wait. One needs to stop at stop signs whether driving a vehicle or another mode of transportation.

Vehicles have been parking along Grove Street facing oncoming traffic. That is another violation of motor vehicle rules, as they need to be parked facing the direction of their travel, not facing traffic.

Walking in the street with oneโ€™s back to traffic instead of the attached sidewalk is another unsafe choice people are making. Let us all work together being aware of good-neighbor actions and legal safety laws while partaking of our Great Town To Live In.
