The Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., will present “Nora Unwin: Writer and Illustrator” on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Bass Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The illustrated talk, held on what would have been Unwin’s 118th birthday, explores her career as a writer and illustrator. Unwin was an artist, teacher and illustrator who began her career in England before emigrating to the United States after World War II. Exhibition curator and Monadnock Center Director Michelle Stahl will discuss Unwin’s work, from her first commissioned illustration at 18 to her final book, “The Chickadees Come.”
Following the talk, guests can view the center’s new exhibit, “Nora Unwin: Books & Drawings.”
