Monadnock Writers’ Group is hosting its regional Three-Minute Fiction Slam on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. in the Peterborough Town Library downstairs meeting room, 2 Concord St.
The public is invited to take part in the competition by either participating or observing the fun. The event is free. The contestant who represents MWG at the state finals will receive a one-year membership to New Hampshire Writers’ Project.
The competition challenges writers to perform original pieces of fiction in three minutes or less before an audience and panel of judges. This year the judges will be novelist Diane V. Mulligan and writer Linda Warren. People who plan to compete should arrive at the event by 12:45 p.m. Entries will be accepted by the contest coordinator before the event.
Each year, the competition begins at regional contests throughout the Granite State. The top winner from each local event moves on to the state finals hosted by the New Hampshire Writers’ Project. The 2023 state-level competition will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m. at Webster Hall on the SNHU campus. The state contest winner will be awarded $250.
