An injured hiker from Massachusetts was rescued from Mount Monadnock’s White Dot trail Thursday morning.
Just before noon on Thursday, New Hampshire Fish and Game was contacted by Southwestern New Hampshire Fire Mutual Aid reporting the injured hiker. Christopher Morris, 42, of Belmont, Mass. was hiking on Mount Monadnock and shortly after reaching the summit, began hiking down the White Dot and sustained a lower leg injury. Unsure whether he would be able to hike further, he called 911.
According to a release from New Hampshire Fish and Game, conservation officers and Monadnock Park staff responded to the Old Toll Road to hike to the patient on the White Arrow trail. First-responders made contact with Morris, splinted the injury and gave him crutches to assist in hiking. Morris was able to hike out under his own power with assistance from responders. The group arrived at the Old Toll Road at 4:40 p.m., where Morris received further care from the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance. Morris was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital.
