Jaffrey Civic Center’s speaker series, Stories to Share opens its third season Friday, Oct. 6, at 5 p.m. with Kurt Steelman.
Steelman founded Steelman Productions in Keene 20 years ago, and will discuss how a small startup became one of the largest production companies in the Northeast. He began as a stagehand at his father’s theater, Cinema 93, in Concord. He did everything, from laying cables to placing microphones running sound systems, humping gear, hanging rigging and tweaking lights. Today, Steelman Productions provides management and labor for live events – management, administrative and labor services employing loaders, runners, stagehands, electricians, carpenters, equipment operators, steel workers, riggers, stage managers, production managers, caterers, artist relations and payroll accountants.
Series organizer Joseph Steinfield will serve as moderator. The program is free, but to help support this event and others like it, donations are appreciated. The program will be available as an in-person event at the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main St., as well as via YouTube live. Register to attend in-person.
