The Cheshiremen Chorus, an a cappella chorus, is offering free singing lessons for men and women of all ages.

Called “Ready, Set, Sing!” the series of six weekly lessons, open to both seasoned and aspiring singers, will begin at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 16, and will be held at the Hannah Grimes Center at 25 Roxbury St. in Keene. Free parking is available front and rear.

“It is a tremendous opportunity to learn,” stated Dennis Hattie of Peterborough, a longtime member of the Cheshiremen. “The program will motivate singers to sing better and additionally, offer specific training exercises to enhance vocal production … and other information about the benefits of singing.”

Following each class, participants are invited to remain for refreshments and spend time with the Cheshiremen as they rehearse.

The Cheshiremen Chorus has been singing in Keene and the Monadnock region for more than 70 years, including at Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, RiverMead in Peterborough, Depot Square in Peterborough for the shops at Christmas, and for the towns of Rindge and Jaffrey. The group is returning to its annual shows, performances and support programs after the three-year pandemic pause.

The chorus is accepting registration for the lessons. People can attend one or all, and no musical experience is necessary. For information, visit cheshiremen.org/readysetsing or call 877-312-7467.
