On Saturday, May 20, at 9:45 a.m., Monadnock Writers’ Group Speaker Series features New York Times bestselling author and lifelong New Hampshire resident Brendan DuBois.
The free event will be at Peterborough Town Library, 2 Concord St.
A former newspaper reporter. DuBois has written 24 novels, including five co-authored with James Patterson and a sixth to be published in June, the “Lewis Cole” series set in a fictional town in coastal New Hampshire, the “Dark Victory” science fiction trilogy and additional stand-alone thrillers.
DuBois’s short fiction has appeared in The Saturday Evening Post, Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, Analog, Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine, The Strand Magazine, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and numerous anthologies.
His stories have won three Shamus Awards for Best Short Story of the Year from Private Eye Writers of America, the Ellery Queen Readers Award, three Edgar Allan Poe Awards and more. DuBois lives in Exeter with his wife, English springer spaniel and cat.
Since 1984 the Monadnock Writers’ Group (MWG) has supported local writers of all genres and levels of achievement. Monthly meetings, held on the third Saturday of each month, bring a variety of writers to the Monadnock region to offer their experiences.
In addition, MWG publishes periodic anthologies and Smoky Quartz, a semiannual online journal of literature and art. Throughout the year, MWG hosts public readings and informal gatherings to raise awareness of the literary talent in the Monadnock region.
