DublinArts, 1459 Main St. in Dublin, will present “Doug Farrell and Volkert Volkersz — Two Songwriters: Back and Forth and Together” Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m.
Doug Farrell and Volkert Volkersz have respected each other’s songwriting and guitar-playing skills for many years and have decided it’s time to swap tunes, and perhaps banter, on stage. Farrell is an award-winning songwriter, recording artist and a member of the acoustic band Decatur Creek. He has been featured at songwriters-in-the-rounds, listening rooms, coffeehouses, benefits, festivals and concert stages throughout the region.
Farrell has appeared live in studio on numerous radio shows, including NHPR’s “The Folk Show,” and recorded two full-length solo releases of original songs, “Handyman Special” in 2008 and “Spirit Man” in 2019.
Volkersz is the former program coordinator of the Dublin Community Center, where he was host of the DubHub Open Stage for five years. Since moving to New Hampshire from the Seattle area in 2016, he has featured at numerous regional coffeehouses, open mics, libraries, festivals and concerts. Two of his recordings have received airplay on the NHPR’s “The Folk Show.”
Volkersz is in the process of recording his first full-length album, with Farrell appearing on two songs. Since the pandemic he has posted more than 125 songs, both originals and covers, to his YouTube channel.
Tickets are $15, and will be available at the door. For information, contact Molly McDowell at 603-801-5377.
