The Children and the Arts Festival Committee is hosting two community workshops for people to make cardboard vehicles to use in the parade and at the festival.
The workshops are being held Thursday, May 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Unitarian Church dining room in Peterborough, 25 Main St. The workshops are free, but registration is required.
Participants will learn to make a truck, plane, boat, bus, car or other vehicle. Design and construction will take place at the workshop, then participants will decorate and paint at home afterwards. Size of the final vehicle will depend on the size of the cardboard participants bring and who will wear it on festival day.
The workshops are open to adults and children 10 years of age and older, when accompanied by an adult. If adults want to attend to make vehicles which can be made available for the parade for local children to use, that is also an option. To register, send email to Terry Reeves by May 1 at terryhelenreeves1953@gmail.com.
Children and the Arts Festival is a nonprofit which provides a free arts festival each spring with art for, by and with children. Funding comes from local donors and grants. For information, visit childrenandthearts.org or follow Children and the Arts on Facebook or Instagram.
