The Peterborough Democrats gathered at the Peterborough Town Library Saturday to begin their roadside cleanup.

This is the first year that they have participated in the “Adopt A Highway” program, and they intend to hold cleanups throughout the year in June, August and October. After Democratic Town Committee Chair Tom Burgess read through instructions and a safety briefing, the group of nine split up and headed towards Granite Street and Concord Street. The area they covered throughout the morning ran from Route 202 to Sand Hill Road to Route 101.

When asked why it was important to show up for this event, Marcia King said, “I believe in keeping our community and environment safe and clean. It’s community service and I am doing my part.” Dan Grosz shared that he felt it was an opportunity to get together in person and do something for the community.
