Peterborough Folk Music presents Dave Gunning’s return to the Monadnock region Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m. at Bass Hall in the Monadnock Center for History & Culture, 19 Grove St. Peterborough.

Gunning last performed locally at at Deb’s House Concerts. His 2020 concert as Bass Hall was canceled due to the pandemic. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and admission is $25.

Gunning is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose career has spanned more than two decades. He has earned multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, a Juno nomination and nine East Coast Music Awards. Much of his material is about the underdogs, heroes, family, the heart and reflects a message of social justice and caring about the world. His album “Up Against The Sky” received four 2020 Canadian Folk Music Award nominations; two East Coast Music Awards, a Canadian Independent Music Video Award and an International Folk Music Award nomination.

He was the most-played Canadian and international artist and the No. 2 album on the U.S. folk DJ charts in October 2019, and has toured across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia.
