In 2020, President Joe Biden had campaigned to restore the soul of America, reminding us of the vital importane of decency, dignity, self-discipline and civil discourse. The election of 2022 makes it clear that the president, by his steadfast pursuit to address the many problems left for him, in his quietly decent, dignified way, without any bombast or melodrama, succeeded in calming the country down.

The voters strongly rejected extremism and chose good sense, respect for the law and a strong democracy.

The press, et al, has been very slow to express praise, appreciation and encouragement to a president who, in a very short time, accomplished a great deal. Instead, a stumble, a stutter, a setback, and there’s a rush to hold his feet to the fire. By contrast, during the Trump years, propelled by bombast, melodrama, invitations to hate, invitations to violence, the press, et al, certainly did not hold that man’s feet to the fire. The shock and outrageousness were so exciting, a field day of fun.

It’s high time for the press, et al, to calm down and exercise balanced judgment. There aren’t many people like Biden who will serve in government and sincerely work hard for the country without their efforts and achievements being recognized and valued.
