Gov. Chris Sununu seems to be ignoring the population that has succumbed to drug addiction. Rehabilitation/recovery is much more effective to address an addict’s situation than incarceration.
Also, not surprisingly, rehabilitation/recovery is far less expensive to taxpayers than having addicts go through the legal system. It also benefits society in that a recovered addict can integrate back into society much more easily than an ex-convict. Not having a conviction record means that he or she will be more employable.
The costs of having an addict go through the legal system and become incarcerated is an order of magnitude more expensive than rehabilitation/recovery. Dr. Tom Sherman wants to use a medical approach to meet this problem head-on. So in order to save tax dollars, please vote for Tom Sherman.
