Scarecrows on the Common returns fully in-person Saturday, Oct. 8, as part of the town’s 250th anniversary celebration.
After a year off due to COVID-19 restrictions, Scarecrows on the Common returned last year with build-at-home kits. This year, the even returns in full, with vendors, music and food on the common while individuals, families and businesses build their scarecrows in person. There will be clothing available for people to dress their scarecrows, but participants are encouraged to bring their own costumes. Prizes are awarded for the most-creative scarecrows. The cost to build a scarecrow is $5.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the Jaffrey Common. Local vendors, live music, a craft fair and the Kona Ice truck will be on the common, and businesses throughout the downtown will be hosting special deals for shoppers. The band Sheep Dip will be performing from 1 to 3 p.m. on the common.
Raffle tickets are available to purchase to win a free ton of pellets, donated by Lignetics/New England Wood Pellets. Tickets are $5 per ticket or five tickets for $20. The winner of the raffle will be announced during Oktoberfest on Oct. 15.
Vendors interested in having a table at Scarecrows on the Common should contact teamjaffreynh@gmail.com for information.
