Bass Hall in Peterborough will be the setting for an evening of Celtic music when U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion Jamie Laval returns for a performance on Friday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m.

Laval, joined by vocalist Amber Rose and harpist Liv Castor, will take the audience on a musical journey through Scotland, Ireland and Brittany, reimagining Gaelic love songs, rustic peasant dances and recounting thic tales from the Celtic world.

Laval has performed for Queen Elizabeth II, appeared on Dave Matthews’ “Some Devil” album and presented a TEDx Talk on the value of arts and music in the community. “Murmurs and Drones,” Laval’s third album, won the popular vote for Best World Traditional Album in the 2012 Independent Music Awards. In 2019 Laval released his latest album, “Celtic Christmas: Music for the Deep Midwinter.”

Rose is a recent finalist in the Metropolitan Opera’s Emerging Artist Competition. She and Laval have been performing live and online, and they will be releasing their first album later this year.

Castor studied classical concert harp at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and began to channel her efforts into the traditional Scottish lever harp (clàrsach). She studied improvising and Celtic music with several musical luminaries, including Maeve Gilchrist.
