Jeanne Deitsch is proving herself to be a prolific writer of fiction. In her recent Viewpoint articles, she spins a fantastic tale of conspiracy that is worthy of a James Bond movie. There is the arch-villain Koch and a diverse cast of nefarious conservative collaborators attempting to influence civilization or something like that. The only thing missing is a Russian connection.
Although one is inclined to simply dismiss these articles as light entertainment, because they contain false statements about Lionheart Classical Academy, it is necessary to correct the public record on two key points. First, Lionheart is not a religious school; it is a public charter school with no religious affiliation. Second, Lionheart is not run by Hillsdale College; it is run by local educators and overseen by a board comprised of local citizens. This information is easily found on Lionheart’s website, but has been willfully ignored and distorted by Dietsch.
Lionheart will open soon with an enrollment of nearly 200 students, whose parents have elected to send their children there because of the classical curriculum that it offers and, among other things, its commitment to teaching virtue. We are very fortunate to have this educational option in our community.
