Congratulations to the regions new public charter school, Lionheart Classical Academy. Going from literally an idea to reality for a project of this magnitude in two years is a remarkable achievement.
These wonderful folks have worked hundreds of volunteer hours putting everything together. The community interest has been so great the school requested and was granted an increased allowable enrollment by the state. I’m told there is still a waiting list. The facility could not be more perfect to accommodate the physical plant requirements as additional grades are added to the current kindergarten-through-fifth-grade configuration.
There has been some push back over the last few months relative to New Hampshire charter schools in general and Lionheart specifically. The Lionheart concerns seem to be related to the selection of the Hillsdale College Charter School curriculum. I went to the Hillsdale College website and downloaded their 24-page detailed K-to-12 program guide. I found the Hillsdale program to be outstanding. Please check it out for yourself. I’m sure you will be impressed.
Some students learn differently, and some parents’ educational expectations are different. A community that can provide options for all will be stronger and healthier.
