Larry Duberstein, author of “The Hospice Singer” will be speaking at the James A. Tuttle Library, 45 Main St. in Antrim, as part of its Distinguished Lecture Series Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Duberstein is also author of “The Marriage Hearse” and “The Handsome Sailor.” His new novel, “The Hospice Singer,” explores the world of hospice singing-home visit concerts for the dying through the surprising relationship between one of the singers, 66-year-old Ian Nelson, and a young woman, Anita Richardson, to whom his choir sings. Ian, retired from a career as a high school guidance counselor, long married and the father of two, considers himself an ordinary man. Meeting Anita threatens it all. His attraction and connection to this much younger woman – who, to complicate matters, is dying – upends his quiet New England life.
The event is free. For information, visit antrimnh.org/james-tuttle-library.
