Hancock Town Library will present “A History of Joni Mitchell with Chris Albertson & Cait Murphy” Tuesday, July 12, at 7 p.m. in the downstairs room of the Hancock Meetinghouse/Church, 47 Main St.

The event is a musical performance and conversation on the life and music of 10-time Grammy Award winner and Kennedy Center Honoree Joni Mitchell. Albertson and Murphy cover Mitchell’s inspirations for her work, personal experiences, friendships, musical collaborators and her influence on numerous songwriters and artists. The performance spans her work before “Song to a Seagull” to her final album, “Shine.”

Albertson is a jazz, blues/rock guitarist, composer and percussionist who has been featured on stages throughout New England for more than 30 years. He has worked with The Platters, Amy London, The Vermont Philharmonic, Straight No Chaser, The Best of Times, Neal Martin and others. He is a retired  public and private music educator in New Hampshire.

Murphy is a singer whose work includes jazz, blues and pop/rock. In her teens and early 20s, she toured the country singing gospel, performing in musical theater productions and various competitions. Her singing has been featured on “Animal Songs for Kids of All Ages”  and “The Last Stand”  by Albertson.

The concert is free and open to all. Masking is preferred.
