The Friends of the Jaffrey Library’s next Book Donation Saturday will be May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Jaffrey Public Library’s Bean Room, 38 Main St.
People can bring 10 books in good condition and volunteers with book sale experience will screen them and potentially add them to the sales. These Saturdays are the only times book donations can be accepted, and people should not take any boxes or bags of books to the library staff.
The Friends need paperback fiction and nonfiction and children’s books. Hardback books should be recent and in very good condition. Moldy or damaged books (underlined, stains, torn pages), magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, travel guides, medical, financial advice and computer books will not be accepted.
Ongoing sales of used books are a fundraising mainstay for the Friends of the Jaffrey Library. Volunteers refresh special bookcases on the main floor and lower level with gently used books on many subjects and for all ages. Book Donation Saturdays allow the Friends to replenish the stock, but not be overwhelmed with books and disposal problems.
Funds raised by the Friends of the Jaffrey Library help support library services and programs, including T-Mobile Hot Spots, museum and park passes, specialized equipment like scanners for restoring photos, improvements to staff spaces and landscaping.
