With more local communities changing the way they operate their town’s ambulance and fire service, perhaps it is time that Peterborough consider that the ambulance service is not the “revenue stream” as it was promoted to be.

As with Keene, Wilton, New Ipswich, Milford and Jaffrey, to name a few, I think it is time to separate our fire and ambulance service. I am not in favor of the $2 million expense for a study, but perhaps a study should be added to see if separating the ambulance and fire departments would be a feasible option to cut costs in Peterborough and perhaps not have to build such a big “safety complex.”

Our departments have morphed into one expensive organization clouded by interdepartmental budgets. We have far too many “chiefs” and not enough troops.
