Applications are being accepted until 4 p.m., on June 1 for the Henry J. Belletete and Marie E. Belletete Memorial Fund Scholarships.

The fund can be used to provide scholarships or financial assistance for “the needy and impoverished citizens” of Jaffrey. Any student seeking post-secondary school who has financial need may apply.

The amount provided by the fund varies, as it is based on the interest gathered by the fund, which is managed by the town Trustees of the Trust Funds. According to town Administrative Assistant Judy Zola, the amount available last year was about $6,000. Scholarships are given to multiple residents who qualify. Awards can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars, based on the amount available and the number of qualified applicants.

The Select Board will review all applications, and funds will be awarded using state income guidelines to determine need. Applicants will be notified by mail of the decisions no later than June 30.

Applications are available via mail by contacting the Jaffrey Town Office at 603-532-7880, Ext. 100, or on the “News” page of the town website.
