Boys’ lacrosseConVal drops opener

The ConVal boys’ lacrosse team lost their season opener with last year’s Division II runner-up Timberlane Monday, 7-2.

Head coach Terry McNamara said the ConVal defense played extremely well to limit the experienced Owls’ offensive output.

“It was a credit to our defense to hold them to seven goals,” McNamara said. “They stood on their heads.”

The offensive output was another story, as ConVal only scored two goals.

“We are not a very deep team,” McNamara said, “so we will need to work on getting everyone on the same page as we get deeper into games so we can count on everyone know the plays and be ready to perform. Defense will continue to be our strength, and the success of our season will depend on our offensive players developing.”

Seth Fowler and Ronan McNamara had a goal and an assist each, and goalie Nick Squatrito made nine saves.

ConVal (0-1) hosts Spaulding Friday.
