As a provider, educator and advocate, Philip Wyzik has been working in the field of community mental health for more than 30 years and is the chief executive officer for Monadnock Family Services in Keene. He is also now a newly published novelist, and will discuss “Pushed Down, Then Out” Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at The Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough.

“Pushed Down, Then Out” imagines a future where it is socially unacceptable to be charitable, where people’s basest instincts for self-preservation and the “survival of the fittest” side of capitalism color the whole culture. In the novel, a traumatized young girl escapes this culture to find respite among some strangers in a small New Hampshire town.
